In the window at a flat shop vol. 2: 09/08/22 - 14/08/22

welcome to another instalment (the second instalment) of ‘in the window at a flat shop' (frome street)', a weekly breakdown of the window display at our 58 frome street pop-up. this week in our big window, these two outfits:

you’ll note that there’s Not much to the first outfit, on the left: It's a full-length polyester shirt dress by comme des garcons, from Autumn / winter 1995 'sweeter than sweet', and a full-length polyester shirt dress by comme des garcons, from Autumn / winter 1995 'sweeter than sweet' alone. And that’s the power of a dress (a power shared with jumpsuits and onesies one supposes), it alone can be an outfit. we could justify this sparse merchandising decision by saying that the strength of the garment is its intensity, the purity it has standing on its own. and indeed that’s true! but the truth is at least partly that we left it on its own for crass marketing reasons: it was obvious when hung that its vast expanse of bright white really popped in the window, and did not wish to be interrupted.

but! the outfit on the right has more to it (two more things in fact). it’s a large silhouette windcoat by issey miyake (windcoat), with a detachable liner, a wrinkled polyester shirt with lightning bolts on it (also issey miyake), and a wrinkled and embroidered maxi skirt (by yoshiki hishinuma peplum).

and in our other, smaller, harder to photograph window, we have this:

which is A semi-transparent nylon 'skeleton' bomber by anrealage, worn with patterned trousers by comme des garcons homme plus, from aw2001.

and that’s what’s in the window at our frome street pop-up this week. will leave you with two more pictures. one, another of the above outfit, but from a more sidewards angle where you can kinda sorta just a little bit see out onto the street above (you can see out enough, at least, to learn that someone named “jenna'“ or someone who wants others to think they are named “jenna” was parked out the front). and another, the other, of the second big window outfit, with a lil cameo from zoe dibb and zoe dibb’s mother, who came to visit just as we were photographing the window. hello again zoe goodbye again zoe, hello again reader goodbye again reader.
